Sculpture

Folk Toys, Urban Toys.

These 13” tall plaster blanks were adorned with airplane model paint, words, beads, broken glass, mirror, nails, and whatever flotsam they called for. In another playful gesture, I felt compelled to create my own “TV trays,” with ready-made games and messages. I began painting on larges pieces of wood harvest from the Los Angeles streets after the 1992 earthquake,

I am fascinated by urban toys from Japan and the U.S. that seem to be calling out for the same treatment by other artists. Sorry folks, I did my own first!
