Eileen Zegar, L.Ac, MTOM, MFA

As an experienced artist I cannot help but reflect back on the road I’ve traveled.  Through this re-examining I see a consist treatment of themes, imagery, technique, and style.

During graduate school at MICA in Baltimore, I was deeply influenced by everyone from Cy Twombly, Saul Steinberg, and Francisco Clemente. Wayne Theibaud, Richard Diebenkorn, and Roy de Forest provided a discordant foundation to the photo-realistic work I pursued  with the guidance of my mentor, Richard McLean during undergraduate years at San Francisco State University.

I have worked as an editorial illustrator for newspapers, created greeting card & postcards. I’ve worked as a set decorator in feature film and TV and finally, moving, into the healing arts as an acupuncturist, I lead patients on guided visualizations, effortlessly instructing them as they create healing pictures in their head.

Today I see it all come together —whimsy and intellect, enveloped in concern for our time in history, overlaying the deep patterns of the natural world. I have never stopped making my art, drawing regularly and, building a collectorship.

I encourage you to contact me directly to learn more about my projects, inquire about commissions, or purchases of existing works.
