“As a narrative artist there is always a story. Sometimes I write it down, but mostly it calls out to be seen.”

As a “city-kid,” I fell in love with the vision of open space— Empty of people and expansive sprawl. Land Meditations allow me to share that “far from empty,” breathtaking natural vista.
Fascinated by the carved wooden folk art of Oaxaca, I decided to carve my own in the image of my dog. I created a mold resulting in a multitude of plaster pieces waiting to reveal their identities.
Many of my commissioned pieces are dog portraits. I think that ‘dog’ truly is ‘god‘ spelled backwards. Other times I just find them fun to draw. They don’t pick their clothes, they come as they are, and are perfectly content with that fact.
My figurative work explores the real and surreal. From a 5 foot painted canvas tapestry, to portraits on wood salvaged from the 1992 Los Angeles earthquake.
